Description

A superb Meder a lifetime impression, with excellent contrasts. Mary’s protruding hair clearly marked and before the scratch above her head. Trimmed on the platemarks.
Dürer, who at the turn of the century, at the height of the cult of the ancestors, intensively explored the subject of the picture, has found a completely original solution here. Dürer’s unconventional view of the figures in lively movement clearly sets him apart from the traditional pictorial formulations with the hierarchically arranged group of three. – The paper along the edges partially beckend up to approx. 2 mm and inconspicuously redrawn, otherwise in good condition.
