In addition to auctioneering and art sales Karl & Faber has also been dedicated to art historical research since 2016. By publishing catalogues raisonnés of artists’ works, the Munich auction house makes an important contribution to art history.
In March 2016, KARL & FABER published the catalogue raisonné of paintings by Adolf Erbslöh (1881–1947), written by Felix Billeter and Brigitte Salmen, followed by the catalogue raisonné of paintings by Erbslöh’s longtime friend Alexander Kanoldt (1881–1939) in October 2018. The author of the latter, an “indispensable standard work” to quote the “Kunstbuch Anzeiger”, is Dr. Michael Koch. Both publications were brought out by the Hirmer Verlag publishing house in Munich.
