Online Only | Tutorial

In cooperation with Invaluable, KARL & FABER now also offers Online Only Auctions. These auctions take place exclusively on the Internet and not in the auction room. Online Only auctions are timed auctions that run for a fixed period of ten days during which bids can be placed for a lot. Our General Terms and Conditions provide for a two-week right of return for consumers. Therefore, our new Online Only Auctions are a risk-free and convenient addition to the live auction. An insight into the respective catalogue as well as a registration for bidding are only possible from the start of the specific auctions.

Step 1: View catalogue

You can find our new Online Only function on our website under “Buy” in the “Online Only” section. The catalogue will be published at the beginning of the Online Only Auction. It can be accessed as usual by clicking on “Online Catalogue”.

Step 2: Register

If you have already created a user account with Invaluable, you can simply click on “Register”in the logo bar at the top and enter your login data as usual.

Register

If you do not yet have an account with Invaluable, click on “Login” in the logo bar at the top right and enter your personal details in the “Create an Account” form. As the Online Only Auctions are run by the external service provider Invaluable, this step is also necessary for customers already registered with KARL & FABER.

Activate your account

After your data has been checked, you will receive a confirmation from Invaluable to your e-mail address. This will contain a link to activate your account. Please note that this email may be detected as spam by your filter and moved to your spam folder.

Step 3: Admission to bidding

After the start of the auction, you can view the entire catalogue of our Online Only Auction including lot details and photos. You can log in and out from your account at any time during the auction.

However, in order to be able to bid at the auction, you must in addition register as a bidder in the catalogue of the respective auction. If you are already a KARL & FABER customer, you will be quickly activated for online bidding. As a new customer, we need proof of your address, a copy of your photo ID and, if available, references from other auction houses. Upon receipt of your documents, we will activate you for bidding at our Online Only Auction.

Step 4: Bidding

Bids

As soon as the auction is online and you have registered for the specific catalogue, you can place your bids. Enter your maximum bid here, i.e. the maximum price you would like to spend on this lot. If another bidder outbids you, your bid will automatically be increased by one bidding step until your maximum bid is reached.

If your maximum bid is exceeded, you will receive an e-mail notification and can increase your maximum bid. For KARL & FABER auctions, bidding steps are specified, which you can find on the respective lot page in the drop-down menu.

Watch lots and bids

To ensure that you are the highest bidder, you should monitor your lot regularly. If you are outbid by another bidder, a notification will be sent to your email address. This will include information on how to raise your bid and a link to your lot.

End of the Online Only Auction

Our Online Only Auction ends regularly at 5 pm lot by lot in 1-minute intervals: The first lot first, then one minute later the next until all lots have expired. On the day of the auction, the expiration time for each lot is displayed to the exact minute. The so-called extended bidding applies: If a bid is placed 5 minutes before the expiry of the time, the bidding for this lot is automatically extended by 5 minutes. This rule applies to each lot individually. Therefore, lots may end outside the order of the lot numbers.

Your purchase at KARL & FABER

Soon after you have won a lot, you will also receive a notification by e-mail. You can then use your account to view all the information about the lot you have won.

Step 5: Payment & right of withdrawal

Payment

After the end of the auction you will receive an invoice for the lots you won. There you will find all information regarding costs, payment and shipping.

Right of withdrawal

As a consumer you can revoke the purchase contract within two weeks or return the goods without giving reasons. The period for the right of withdrawal applies from the day on which you or a third party named by you have received the goods from the carrier.

If you wish to exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform KARL & FABER by means of a declaration. This can be done by letter, fax, e-mail or by filling out our online form. In accordance with our right of withdrawal, you will then have to bear the costs of the return shipment.

Step 6: Shipment

After receipt of the full purchase price, your purchased lots will be delivered. The delivery period is five working days. Alternatively, you can pick up the purchased item at KARL & FABER’s headquarters within 14 days after receipt of payment. Please arrange a pick-up date.
