According to Dr. Gunther Thiem this watercolour belongs to a group of works that were executed in 1960 at the Sierksdorf coast. Sierksdorf used to be a fishing village and not a well-known spa, which is why the place was for the time being rather popular with artists.

Description

Laut Herrn Prof. Dr. Gunther Thiem gehört das Aquarell zu eine Gruppe von Blättern, die 1960 an der Sierksdorfer Küste entstanden sind. Sierksdorf liegt an der Lübecker Bucht in der Nähe von Neustadt in Holstein im Norden und vom Timmendorfer Strand im Süden. Früher war Sierksdorf ein Fischerdorf und kein bedeutendes Seebad, deswegen war der Ort zeitweise bei Künstlern sehr beliebt. So verbrachte auch Karl Schmidt-Rottluff von 1951 bis 1973 jeden Sommer in Sierksdorf und schuf hier eine große Anzahl von Zeichnungen und Aquarellen.
Im Passepartoutausschnitt kaum merklich gebräunt, sonst in perfekter Erhaltung.
