Description
Als Vorlage diente dem Künstler der Windhund in Alexandre-François Desportes 1699 entstandenem Gemälde “Selbstbildnis als Jäger” (Louvre, Inv. Nr. 3899), vermittelt wohl über die 1733 erschienene Radierung von François Joullain, die den Hund seitenrichtig zu unserer Zeichnung zeigt. Anders als Desportes monumentalisiert unser Künstler den Hund, in dem er ihn von einem niedrigen Standpunkt aus vor tief angesetztem Horizont weitgehend frei stellt. – Mit zwei vertikalen Quetschfalten am linken Rand. Vereinzelt kleine Fleckchen, ansonsten schön.
