Der auf Marinemalerei spezialisierte Künstler erschließt hier den Bildraum durch die hintereinander gestaffelten Boote und die Küstenlinie, die sich im Dunst verliert. Dabei konzentriert er sich auf die Schilderung der Elemente: In feinsten Nuancen beschreibt er das lebhafte Wolkenbild und die Transparenz der sich türmenden Wellen.
