Description
In dieser frischen, bewegten Darstellung gibt der Maler die atmosphärischen Effekte in der Nähe des Meeres durch die lebhafte Pinselführung und kühle Farbigkeit wieder. Blickfang innerhalb der delikat nuancierten Blaugrau- und Sandtöne sind der schwarze Hund und das Mädchen in der unteren Bildmitte, das offenbar dabei ist, die Hühner zu füttern. Diese Szene mag für den Maler Erinnerungen an die eigene Kindheit auf einem norwegischen Bauernhof wachgerufen haben.
