Das vorliegende Blatt zeigt mit feiner psychologischer Einfühlung die Sensibilität und Tatkraft des jungen Revolutionsgenerals. In einem Moment der Ruhe hat er Säbel und Dreispitz kurz abgelegt und blickt sinnend in die Ferne. 1818 wurde Bernadotte als Karl XIV. Johann König von Schweden und als Karl III. Johann König von Norwegen. Kinson erhielt während seiner Tätigkeit als Hofmaler Jerôme Bonapartes den Auftrag für ein Bildnis Bernadottes. – Das Papier wohl vom Künstler selber um eine Holzplatte gelegt, sonst in schöner Erhaltung.
