Description
Interessante Studien von Mönchen und Geistlichen in Ordenstracht, originell in Gestaltung und Ausdruck. Lt. Ellinoor Bergvelt befindet sich eine vergleichbare Zeichnung im Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Beide Arbeiten sind wohl als Vorzeichnungen zu Knips späterem Gemälde der Constantin und Maxentius Basilika in Rom entstanden, das sich heute in einer Privatsammlung in Venray befindet. Minimal fleckig, am rechten Rand Spuren alter Montage, insgesamt gut erhalten.
