Description
Aufgrund seiner koloristischen Noblesse beeindruckendes Porträt des Arztes Gottlieb Wilhelm Eck (1795-1848). Nach seiner Promotion praktizierte selbiger in Berlin als Oberarzt, 1819 als Privatdozent an der Militärakadmie, seit 1820 am Friedrich-Wilhelms-Institut, wo er ein Jahr darauf zum Professor für Pathologie und Therapie berufen wurde. Später hatte er ein Ratsamt beim Medizinalkollegium der Provinz Brandenburg inne. Wie das Eiserne Kreuz belegt, hat Eck an den Befreiungskriegen von 1813-15 teilgenommen, daneben am Revers der Rote Adler-Orden.
