Description
Eduard Hildebrandt war als Künstler ein Weltenbummler, der die damals erschlossene Welt intensiv bereist hat. Auf Empfehlung Alexander von Humboldts bezuschusste der preußische König Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Hildebrandt, sodass sich dieser 1844 zu einer zweijährigen Studienreise nach Brasilien und Nordamerika aufmachen konnte. Vorliegende Ansicht einer mit Palmen bestandenen Plantage geht auf diesen Aufenthalt zurück und wurde in einer weiteren Fassung als Aquarell ausgeführt.
