Portfolio of 7 lino prints on wove. With title/imprint sheet 2 sheets of text with an introduction by Theodor Däubler and the Westfalenballade by Adolf by Hatzfeld. Published by der Galerie Flechtheim. Düsseldorf. 1920. Sheet size ca. 48 x 63 cm (folder ca. 49.5 x 65 cm). A copy from a posthumously published edition of 50 numbered in the imprint and on the individual sheets. Lino prints by Maria Morgner, the artist’s mother, signed “Frau Morgner”. The text sheets signed by the authors, the imprint signed by Georg Tappert on a label. Loose sheets in the original illustrated folder.

Description

Die Mappe erschien posthum unter Anleitung von Georg Tappert, dem Lehrer Wilhelm Morgners, der im Ersten Weltkrieg im Alter von nur 26 Jahren gefallen war. In der Einführung von Theodor Däubler heißt es: “Seine Werke bleiben eine frühlingshafte Verheißung!” Titel der einzelnen Blätter: Selbstbildnis, Kartoffelernte, Mann mit Spaten und Karre, Große Brücke bei Soest, Ziegelarbeiter mit Lore, Kopf eines bärtigen Mannes, Großer umrahmter abstrakter Schnitt mit Sonne. Zusätzlich liegt ein Druck des Titelmotivs “Patroklidom in Soest” bei.
