Description
Die Meeresküste bei unterschiedlichen Lichtverhältnissen spielt schon früh eine wichtige Rolle im Werk von Andreas Achenbach. In diesem Küstenstück zeigen sich die Konzentration und die Reduktion, die er im Lauf seines langen Malerlebens erreicht hat. Der Blick wandert vorbei an hölzernen Buhnen, hinweg über drei Rückenfiguren mit wehenden Mänteln, die sich gegen die steife Meeresbrise lehnen, auf die bewegte See hinaus. Die leuchtend gelbe, herabsinkende Abendsonne taucht das Meer und die karge Dünenlandschaft in ihren warmen Glanz.
