Description
Émile Bernard zeigt auf diesem exquisiten Porträt sein Lieblingsmodell Rina, die mit bürgerlichem Namen Catherine Schwartz hieß. Er verliebte sich in die Prostituierte und versuchte sie zu “retten”. Obwohl er ein frommer Katholik war, besuchte und malte er Bordelle. Er prangerte die Tragödie der Prostitution an und erzählt seine Geschichte mit Rina in seinem Buch “L’esclave nue”: “Die größte Liebe ist die, die man im mittleren Alter für ein verlorenes Mädchen empfindet, das man retten will.”
