With 144 illustrations after woodcuts dating from the 14th to the 20th century. A numbered copy from an edition of 100 de-luxe copies numbered in the imprint and with 4 signed original woodcuts by Erich Heckel, Lyonel Feininger, Heinrich Campendonk, and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and 4 hand-coloured plates. Published by Gustav Kiepenheuer Verlag, Potsdam 1921. Hand-bound in the original calf parchment with title illustration and with the original cardboard case. Including the following original woodcuts: Erich Heckel, Zwei am Meer (Dube 326 B); Lyonel Feininger, Segelboote (Prasse W 183 III); Heinrich Campendonk, Frau mit Blume (Engels 32) and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Gespräch vom Tod (Schapire 267). The woodcuts were created specially for the deluxe edition and printed by hand.

Description

Enthalten sind folgende Originalholzschnitte:
Erich Heckel, Zwei am Meer (Dube 326 B); Lyonel Feininger, Segelboote (Prasse W 183 III); Heinrich Campendonk, Frau mit Blume (Engels 32) und Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Gespräch vom Tod (Schapire 267). Die Holzschnitte wurden eigens für die Vorzugsausgabe geschaffen und von Hand abgezogen. – Die Originalholzschnitte mit vereinzelten winzigen Fleckchen und teils mit minimalen Bestoßungen an der oberen bzw. rechten Kante, im Vorsatz kleine Bleistiftannotationen, insgesamt mit geringfügigen Handhabungsspuren und vereinzelten schwachen Knickspuren, insgesamt in guter Erhaltung.
