Pencil on cream wove. (1917/18). C. 49.5 x 35 cm. Inscribed “1918 I” and “53” by a foreign hand at the lower margin. Probably preparatory sketch for the blue pencil drawing “Der Völkerfrieden” from 1917 (Rathenau II, 66), which in turn served as a model for the same titled lithograph (Wingler/Welz 101).

Description

Von fremder Hand am unteren Blattrand bezeichnet “1918 I” sowie “53”. Wohl vorbereitende Skizze zu der Blaustiftzeichnung (sic) “Der Völkerfrieden” von 1917 (Rathenau II, S. 66), die wiederum als Vorlage für die gleichnamige Lithographie diente (Wingler/Welz 101). – Papier gebräunt und leicht griffknickig, an den Blatträndern mit teils hinterlegten Einrissen und Knickspuren, verso an den oberen Blattecken montiert, sonst in guter Erhaltung.
