Description
Wer die exotische Schöne ist, die sich in reichem Schmuck vor Palmen und einem dichten Wald dem Betrachter präsentiert, wissen wir nicht. Sie mutet in ihrem Schmuck “südamerikanisch” bzw. “indianisch” an, doch bleibt unklar, ob der Schmuck authentisch ist oder es sich um eine Art Rollenporträt handelt. Auch den Maler dieses ungewöhnlichen Bildnisses kennen wir nicht, doch lässt die qualitätvolle Malerei und das Motiv an Ferdinand Bellermann (1814–1889) denken, der sich 1842/45 in Venezuela aufhielt und danach mit seinen exotischen Ansichten in Berlin Furore machte. Unser Bildnis könnte in seinem Umkreis entstanden zu sein.
