Description
Die Raumfähre Challenger ging in die Raumfahrtgeschichte ein, als sie im Januar 1986 kurz nach ihrem Start samt ihren Besatzungsmitgliedern in der Luft explodierte. Darunter befand sich auch eine Nicht-Astronautin, die Lehrerin Christa McAuliffe. Sie wurde 1985 zur erfolgreichen Gewinnerin des N.A.S.A. Wettbewerbs und Werbefeldzugs “Teacher in Space Project” gekürt, um später an dem tragischen Flug teilzunehmen. Die Widmung von Jim Lovell auf der vorliegenden Arbeit: “Make a wish come true in 1985”, bezieht sich auf den inoffiziellen Titel des Wettbewerbs.
