Description
Für Grosz waren die Aquarelle von Cape Cod, die während der Sommermonate von 1936 bis 1945 entstanden, nicht nur ein Produkt seiner engen Verbundenheit mit der Natur. In ihnen konnte er, der bekannte Illustrator, auch zu seiner eigenen Identität als Kunstmaler zurückfinden. Sehr häufig firnisste er die Arbeiten zumindest teilweise, als handele es sich um Ölgemälde. Auf diese Art vertiefte er die Farben und erhöhte die malerische Qualität des Werkes. Dabei benutzte er meist Eiweiß als Firniss, ein Mittel, das im 19. Jahrhundert, so auch von van Gogh, häufig für Gemälde benutzt wurde. Hier zeigt sich Grosz’ innovativer Umgang mit der Technik des Aquarells. Verso ein verworfenes Aquarell eines Mannes mit Mantel, Schal und Hut. Verso Montagespuren. Allgemein in sehr gutem und farbintensiven Zustand.
