Die Kupferstiche erschienen erstmals 1803 im vierten Band der französischen Ausgabe von Lavaters “Physiognomischen Fragmenten”. Dass er ausgerechnet den Frosch als animalischen Ausgangspunkt wählte, begründet Lavater damit, dass er die niedrigste Kreatur sei. – Mit je einer horizontalen und einer vertikalen Faltspur, dort unten mittig mit Risschen. Insgesamt von guter Erhaltung. Selten.
