Description
Brillanter, klarer Frühdruck, bis auf die Plattenkante beschnitten. Die Darstellung zeigt Rembrandt im Alter von 24 Jahren, noch zu seiner Leidener Zeit. Das Blatt gehört zu einer Reihe von Ausdrucksstudien, in denen Rembrandt sein Gesicht als Modell für das Studium und die Darstellung unterschiedlicher Affekte verwendete, mit dem Ziel, zu einer authentischen Wiedergabe von Emotionen zu gelangen. Innerhalb dieser Werkgruppe zählt diese Radierung zu seinen seltensten Blättern, da die Platte früh verloren ging. Von Nowell-Usticke mit RR- bewertet, “a very scarce portrait”. – Verso etwas unregelmäßig braunfleckig, ansonsten sehr gut erhalten.
