Description
Wie das vorangegangene Los zu dem Zyklus der Muschelstillleben gehörend. Music benutzt, im Gegensatz zu der 1985 entstandenen Arbeit, gleichmäßig lasierende Rottöne, die das ganze Arrangement in ein zunehmend glatteres und abstrahierendes Ganzes tauchen. Deutlich hat Music das Haptische seiner Malweiße hier reduziert, lässt Blau und Weißtöne nur noch diffus erahnen, nimmt dem Teller Schwerkraft und Form. So befreit er das Stillleben mehr und mehr von Realität und greifbarer Wirklichkeit und schafft Raum für die lyrischen Abstraktionen seines reifen Spätwerks.
Die Blattränder etwas unregelmäßig; vereinzelt restaurierte Einrisse und Bereibungen der Oberfläche, sonst gut.
Provenienz: Direkt beim Künstler erworben; Sammlung Patty Cadby Birch/Everett B. Birch, Virgin Islands, verso mit dem Klebeetikett.
