Kneeling calf. Bronze with a brown patina. (1959). C. 4 : 6 : 3 cm. One of an edition of 16 casts (including 11 estate casts). Stamped on the belly with the artist’s mark (incised monogram). Little calf, after a linden woodcarving.

Anmutige, in sich geschlossene Tierfigur, nach einer Lindenholzfassung gearbeitet. Ursprünglich hatte Mataré das Kälbchen mit langen Hörnern gebildet, die er dann aber verwarf und in einen Wulst umarbeitete. Es existiert eine weitere Variante mit gebrochenem Wulst. Die Patina teils ins Grünliche oxydiert; vereinzelt etwas berieben. Insgesamt gut erhalten.
