Bronze (2) with gold and green patina. (1977/1984). Height c. 65.5 and c. 63 cm, plinth each ca. 43.5 : 22 cm. From a numbered edition of 350 casts. Signed on the top of the plinth. Stamped with the editor’s mark and dated “Jemelton 1984”. Stamped with the foundry mark Perseo, Switzerland on the back edge of the plinth. Conceived in 1977 and cast in 1984. We see two Surrealistic dancers that move in space. The dancer with the smooth, classical form represents unconscious grace while the other with her cubist form represents the chaotic rhythm of modern life.
Description
Terpsichore ist der Name der Muse des Tanzes. In einem Raum bewegen sich zwei Tänzerinnen, die eine symbolisiert die unbewusste Anmut, die andere verkörpert den sinnlichen Rhythmus. Aus der Letzteren mit dem kubistisch angedeuteten Formenspiel sprießen Zweige als Symbol des rhythmischen Wachsens und des Lebens. Mit Gießerstempel von Perseo, Schweiz. Auf der Plinte mit dem Copyright-Stempel von Jemelton 1984. Entworfen 1977, erste Ausführung 1984. Mit kaum merklichen Spuren von der Handhabung, ansonsten in gutem Zustand.
