Description
Andreas Geist, Vater und Lehrmeister von August Geist, war bekannt für seine miniaturartig genau ausgeführten Landschaften. Dieses Gemälde scheint beinahe eine Illustration zu Ferdinand Gregorovius’ Worten zu sein: “Vor mir lag das strahlende Schauspiel der Maritima, das weite pontinische Sumpfland, ein in sanftesten Farben glühender Teppich, das von der Sonne vergoldete Meer, (…)” (aus: “Wanderjahre in Italien”, 1856–1877). Mit leichter Craquelébildung, sonst in sehr gutem Originalzustand.
