Description
Ausdrucksstarkes Selbstporträt, von nachdenklich-melancholischer Grundstimmung. Mauve, der nur fünfzig Jahre alt wurde, war ein Onkel Vincent van Goghs. Mit seiner Vorliebe für schlichte Motive aus dem einfachen Leben wurde er zum wegbereitenden Vorbild des jungen van Gogh und beeinflusste nachhaltig dessen langwierigen Prozess künstlerischer Selbstfindung. Vor allem im Randbereich mit Farbabrieb, am rechten Rand Klebespuren alter Montage.
