Au théâtre: femme décapitée par un bourreau, et vieillard. (At the theatre: Decapitated woman by a hangman and an old man). Aquatint and etching on “Rives” wove paper. (22.11.66.V). C. 22 : 32 cm (sheet c. 28 : 37.5 cm). One of only 3 prints before the steelfacing of the plate. With the stamp signature lower right. Stayed in Picasso’s own collection, after his death collection Marina Picasso (with the stamp on the reverse). Extremely rare.

Verso mit dem blauen Stempel “Succ. Pablo Picasso Coll. Marina Picasso” und mit der hs. Nummer des Archivs Picasso, Paris: 27545. Druck: Aldo und Pierro Crommelynck, Paris. Picasso hatte die wenigen Abzüge vor der Verstählung der Platte in seinem persönlichen Besitz behalten. Von da aus ging die Mehrzahl der betreffenden Drucke direkt an die Erben, das vorliegende Blatt an seine Enkeltochter Marina Picasso. Eines der drei Exemplare ist signiert und befindet sich in einer Privatsammlung. In sehr gutem Zustand.
