Descrizione
Fine, strong impression printed with tone, with the scratches to the mountain range but before the damage to the Child’s forehead. Trimmed on or slightly inside the plate edge. The format of the sheet is that of the largest of Altdorfer’s engravings. Dürer’s influence is noticable in some areas. Altdorfer appears to have been inspired to create the image by Italian models (cf. the engraving by Giovanni Antonio da Brescia after a design by Mantegna). – Slightly yellowed in the lower corners. Some minor pale flecks in the drapery. Otherwise in good condition.
