Description

– Opulent, large-format composition of an “accumulation” typical of the artist

– Together with Yves Klein, Arman is one of the most important representatives of Nouveau Réalisme

– Arman took part in the Documenta/Kassel and Biennale/Venice several times, and the Centre George Pompidou/Paris honoured him with a comprehensive retrospective in 2010/11

In 1960, as a co-founder of “Nouveau Realisme”, Arman moved away from painting for several decades. In his “accumulations”, the accumulation of identical and related objects, cast in plexiglass, he uses the objects that were previously the subject of his painting as the work of art itself. These are mostly everyday objects that he robs of their actual function and meaning. On the one hand, the artist points to the wasteful consumer society and criticises industrial mass production; on the other hand, he wants to facilitate access to art and break down intellectual barriers.

With a photo certificate from Denyse Durand-Ruel, Rueil-Buzenval. The work is registered in the Denyse Durand-Ruel archive under the number 4843 and in the Arman archive under the number APA#8023.90.041.
