Description

This poster was created for the first performance of Mozart’s Magic Flute at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, on 19 February 1967, for which Chagall designed the set and costumes. Charles Sorlier executed this lithographic interpretation based on a small section of the design for “The Sources of Music”, one of the two large Chagall paintings for the Metropolitan Opera. The poster with lettering is published in a total edition of 3,100 copies.
