Description
Sheet 48 from the series: Los Caprichos. Splendid, effective early impression from the first edition with the number and the script, published by the artist in Madrid. With bright, sharply defined highlights, the delicate burnishing still visible in the sky. The plate edge is clearly visible in the laid paper. From an edition for the Calcografia of 1799, with wide margins. – Tiny loss to the paper at the left edge. The paper slightly abraded at the centre of the left edge. A small brown stain on the cloth of the seated person, otherwise in good condition.
