Description
Unser Stillleben ist wohl zur gleichen Zeit wie die Radierung “Small Still Life” von 1967 (Lafranca 40) entstanden. Auf beiden Werken ist ein noch heute vorhandener Becher aus dem Nachlass Nicholsons mit einer Ansicht des Chrystal Palace in London zu sehen. Die Arkaden des Gebäudes stellt Nicholson stark abstahiert dar. Schon 1945 ist dieser 1851 anlässlich der Weltausstellung entstandene Souvenirbecher in seinem Besitz, wie das Gemälde “Still life with 3 mugs” aus diesem Jahr beweist (siehe Ausstellungskatalog: Ben Nicholson. From the Studio, Pallant Hoouse Gallery, Chichester, 2021, S. 69, Abb. 64).
