Charcoal, partially erased and smudged, on machine-made laid paper. (19)43. Ca. 28.5 x 36 cm. Signed and dated lower right. Verso: Figural composition. Presumably a study for the eponymous first version of the 1946 lithograph “Grotesque” (Spielmann/Baumeister 75). With a written expertise by Felicitas Baumeister, Archiv Baumeister im Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, dated 17.3.2022. This work will be included in the forthcoming digital supplement to the Catalogue Raisonné of drawings, gouaches and collages as number “0834B”.
