Description
Auf einer steinernen Tischplatte ist eine Fülle von Speisen ausgebreitet: Austern und eine halb abgeschälte Zitrone auf einem Zinnteller, auf einem Holzkistchen ein Zweig Esskastanien in ihrer stacheligen Hülle, über den Tisch verteilt einige gehäutete Kastanien und achtlos liegen gelassene Schalenreste. Mittig, aber nicht exakt auf der Mittelsenkrechten, ragt ein großes Weinglas auf. Es sind alles Motive, die in Stillleben des Niederländers Jacob van Walscapelle auftauchen (vgl. Bilddatenbank des RKD, Abbildungsnummer 1001211400 und 1001241151). Hier war wohl ein zeitgenössischer Nachfolger von Walscapelle am Werk, der den Essluxus eines mehrgängigen Herbstbanketts zelebriert.
