Lithograph in colours on wove watermarked “Marais”. (1952). Ca. 68.5 x 49.5 cm (sheet size ca. 96 x 62.5 cm). A numbered copy from an edition of very few artist’s proofs without the text, no edition was printed. Signed lower right. With stamp “Direction generale des musées / 20 Mars 19(9?)3 / No.” and handwritten number “179/200” on the reverse.

Details

Diese Lithografie wird von Charles Solier unter der Aufsicht Chagalls nach einer Gouache von 1949 ausgeführt. Die Komposition dient im gleichen Jahr als Plakat für eine Ausstellung Marc Chagalls in der Galerie des Ponchettes in Nizza sowie für eine Ausstellung in Mailand (vgl. Sorlier, Die Plakate von Marc Chagall, S. 80/81). Verso mit Stempel “Direction generale des musées / 20 Mars 19(9?)3 / No.” und handschriftlich eingetragener Nummerierung “179/200”.
