Description
Hervorragender, früher Probedruck mit den Namen des Künstlers und des Verlegers sowie der Adresse im unsauberen, unteren Rand, aber vor dem Titel. Breitrandig. Wrights Gemälde “A Blacksmith’s Shop”, das erste von fünf Gemälden zum Thema Schmied und Schmiede, schafft es, die alltägliche Arbeit zu einer edlen Beschäftigung zu erheben. Der erste Lord Melbourne (1744-1828) besuchte den Maler 1771 in Derby und erwarb das Gemälde, in der Society of Artists in London. Das Gemälde befindet sich heute im Yale Center for British Art, New Haven. – Im Passepartout-Ausschnitt leicht nachgedunkelt und mit winzigen Stockfleckchen, ansonsten in gutem Zustand.
