Description
Sandro Bellesi hat die Figur Marias der Werkstatt Santi di Titos zugeschrieben, die beistehenden Figuren seien von der Hand des Meisters. Zwar deutlich abgewandelt, beruhe die Komposition auf einer größeren, als Altarbild ausgeführten Verkündigungsszene in der Chiesa della Compagnia di S. Salvatore in Scrofiano (abgebildet in: Fondazione Zeri, N° 34700). Diese ist auf 1575 datiert und zeigt von unserer Darstellung abweichend Maria auf einer Gebetsbank kniend und Gottvater von einer Schar Engel begleitet. Die Dreiergruppe am rechten Rand um den Erzengel Gabriel ist ähnlich der unseren angeordnet.
