With a handwritten confirmation of authenticity by Fritz Stöckli, founder and first president of the Fondazione Marianne von Werefkin, Ascona, on the reverse: “Skizze von Marianne von Werefkin. Freundlich überreicht mit herzlichem Dank für wertvolle Mitarbeit (…). Basel. 2. Juli 58. F. Stöckli”.

Description

Im Werk von Marianne von Werefkin stellen Gebirgslandschaften und Religiosität zwei zentrale Motive dar. Diese intime und spontane Skizze einer kleinen Kirche vor Gebirgspanorama vereint gerade diese beiden Sujets sehr reizvoll. Darüber hinaus zählt sie zu einer der wenigen Arbeiten der Künstlerin, die eine technisch anspruchsvolle, schneebedeckte Landschaft zeigt.
