Gouache over outline etching on firm, black grounded laid paper, after Raphael. (Around 1800). 24.4 x 31.7 cm and 24 x 32.9 cm (sheet sizes 32.8 x 39.9 cm and 32.8 x 41 cm). Titled lower centre, inscribed “MichAng. Maestri. face in Roma” lower right and “Raf. Sanz. Urb. Inv.” lower left.

Description

Reizvolle charakteristische Arbeiten des in Rom tätigen Künstlers nach den Malereien Raffaels im Badezimmer des Kardinals Bibbiena im Vatikan. – Etwas fleckig und mit kleinen, unauffälligen Kratzern im schwarzen Hintergrund, vereinzelt mit winzigen Farbabplatzern in der blauen Zierumrandung. Helle Grundierung des Papiers im Randbereich leicht berieben und am unteren Rand fleckig (1). Farbfrisch und in guter Erhaltung.
