Description
Aus der 12 Bll. umfassenden Serie “Quelques aspects de la vie de Paris”, die der Kunsthändler Ambroise Vollard bei Pierre Bonnard in Auftrag gegeben hatte. Bonnard bietet in dieser Folge ein eindringliches Porträt des urbanen Lebens in der pulsierenden Metropole Paris. Deutlich zeigt sich in dem Motiv des “Place le soir” Bonnards intensive Auseinandersetzung mit japanischen Farbholzschnitten, von denen er selbst einige besaß. Besonders eindrucksvoll bei diesem Blatt ist die dynamische Darstellung der Frau rechts, deren schwarze Silhouette sich vor dem hellen Widerschein des elektischen Lichts vom regennassen Pflasters abhebt.
