Description
Girieud lebte von 1900 bis 1911 im Viertel Butte Montmartre in Paris, dem Zentrum für junge, avantgardistische Künstler. Girieud, der Autodidakt, gehörte nie einer Kunstrichtung an. Stattdessen wollte er frei bleiben und frei ausstellen, weshalb er sich ab 1901 dem Projekt des “Salon des Refusés” widmete, das letztendlich im “Salon d’Automne” mündete. Hier stellte er in der berühmten “Cage aux fauves” aus. Dargestellt ist seine Frau Augusta in feiner Robe mit Hut und Schirm an einem Tisch sitzend. Er heiratete seine Kusine ersten Grades 1902.
Beiliegt: Fabien Launay (1877-1904), Damenporträt, Öl auf Papier, auf Karton aufgezogen, ca. 33 x 24 cm, signiert unten rechts. Beschädigt.
