Description
Die niederländische Keramikkünstlerin Carolein Smit wählt für diese Figurengruppe das aus der Kunstgeschichte und Kammermusik bekannte Motiv “Der Tod und das Mädchen”. Der personifizierte Tod tritt als Verführer der jungen Frau auf und hat sich an deren blauen, marienhaften Umhang geheftet. Smits Œuvre durchzieht eine morbide Faszination für den Tod. So ist auch diese Darstellung vom Freud’schen Dualismus geprägt. Der libido-bestimmte Lebenstrieb (Eros) in Form des nackten Mädchens wird dem Todestrieb (Thanatos) gegenüberstellt, wodurch sich die Frage stellt, an welchem Punkt Unschuld in Schuld umschlägt, wann das Leben dem Tod weicht. – Sehr gut erhalten.
