Description
Vater und Sohn zogen 1799 nach Lindau, Vorliegendes Blatt ist laut von Mandach im Jahr das Umzugs entstanden. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine der frühesten erhaltenen Arbeiten des Künstlers. Seinem Vater diente es als Vorlage zu der Umrissradierung “Vue de la Ville de Lindau” von 1806. Die reizvolle Stadtansicht von den Weinbergen oberhalb Lindaus aus, mit Blick auf den Bodensee und Hohenfreschen ist ein wichtiges Dokument für die erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit von Vater und Sohn (Lit.: Conrad Mandach: Deux peintres suisses: Gabriel Lory le père (1763–1840) et Gabriel Lory le fils (1784–1846). Haeschel-Dufey, Lausanne 1920; S. 45). – Papier leicht gebräunt, Deckweiß stellenweise oxydiert. Unten links mit kleiner Papierverletzung. Verso umlaufend mit altem Montierungssteifen. Insgesamt von schöner Erhaltung.
