Description
Der Raub des Nessus war ein beliebtes Bildmotiv des Barock. Dargestellt ist der Kentaur Nessus, der die schöne Dejanira auf seinem Pferderücken mit Gewalt festhielt, als diese mit ihrem Gemahl Herkules einen Fluss überquerte. Herkules schoss daraufhin einen mit dem Blut der Hydra vergifteten Pfeil auf den Kentauren ab, der diesen tötete.
