Querner porträtiert in erster Linie Personen aus seinem nahen Umfeld in Börnchen, heute ein Ortsteil des sächsischen Glashütte. Durch stete Wiederholung erfasst der Künstler die Porträtierten in einer intensiven und unverstellten Art. Das Werkverzeichnis listet für das Jahr 1967 allein 13 Bildnisstudien von Inge Auxel auf.
