Woodcut in colours on fine Japon. (1909)/1912. C. 47.5 x 36.5 cm (the full sheet). One of minimum 257 numbered copies. Signed (“CM” stamped followed by handwritten “OSER” ), dated and numbered “No. 4.” lower right. Titled “Burg Runkelstein” and inscribed “Orig. Holzschnitt” lower left.
Probably the earliest known copy (“No. 4”, 1912) from this woodcut cut in 1909, without the foliage woodblock for the hillside.

Description

Wohl frühester bislang bekannter Abzug (“No. 4”, 1912) des 1909 geschnittenen Holzstocks, ohne den Blattwerk-Druckstock am Berghang. Kirschl nennt die Nr. 6 von 1921 als den seinerzeit (1989) frühsten bekannten Abzug. – Papier teils schwach gebräunt sowie wenige geringfügige Braunfleckchen, Blattkanten mit vereinzelten minimalen Läsuren, geringfügige Griffknickchen, sonst in guter Erhaltung.
