Description
Die Nationalgalerie in Berlin besitzt ein gleichformatiges Pendant zu dem vorliegenden Gemälde mit dem Titel “Abend im Dorf (Motiv in Dachau)”, Ident. Nr. A I 619. Es zeigt die gleiche Ansicht eines Dorfes, im Vordergrund ein Teich. Bei der Berliner Arbeit handelt es sich allerdings um eine idyllische Ansicht in Abendstimmung, während in der vorliegenden Arbeit die friedvolle Dorflandschaft durch die Darstellung eines Brands ins Dramatische gewendet wird. Frau Bröhan schreibt dazu: “In hellen Flammen steht das zuvor solide und festgefügt dargestellte Haus, Qualm und Rauch liegen über dem Dorf. Von einem Brand wissen die Archive der Stadt Dachau nichts. Hat Skarbina das Ereignis erfunden?” (S. 140).
