Description
Die Haltung der Liegenden und die orientalisch anmutende Ausstaffierung des Raumes entsprechen dem gleichnamigen Gemälde von 1927. Matisse, der auf früheren Reisen die Schönheit nordafrikanischer Frauen bewundert hatte, ließ ihre Haltung für seine Odaliskenbilder im Atelier von französischen Modellen nachstellen. – Papier minimal lichtrandig, rechte obere Blattecke fachmännisch ergänzt, die anderen Ecken kaum merklich bestoßen, insgesamt in guter Erhaltung.
