Description

Prachtvoller, gegensatzreicher Druck der beliebtesten und bekanntesten Radierung des Künstlers. Die Komposition geht auf ein Gemälde zurück, das Barocci zwischen 1582 und 1584 im Auftrag des Herzogs von Urbino, Francesco Maria della Rovere, für eine Kapelle in der Basilika in Loreto ausführte (heute befindet sich das Gemälde in der Pinacoteka Vaticana in Rom). Die Anregung für die Ausführung eines Nachstichs ging möglicherweise vom Herzog selbst aus. Mit einem schönen, breiten Rand um die Plattenkante und deutlich zeichnender Landschaft im Hintergrund. – Druckbedingte Quetschfalte unten, im oberen Rand leicht wellig. Geglättete horizontale Mittelfalte, diese recto kaum wahrnehmbar, ansonsten in guter Erhaltung.
