Leonardo Coccorante gehörte in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jhs. in Neapel zu den führenden Malern von Architekturcapricci. Bernardo de’ Dominici äußert sich in seinen Vite de’ pittori, scultori ed architetti napoletani (1742-1745) sehr wohlwollend über den Künstler.
